Biography
J. Jackson was a commercial photographer. Jackson's photographic business operated under several titles: Privates Bentley and Jackson, Rangoon circa 1865-circa 1869; Jackson and Lourie, Rangoon circa 1870; J. Jackson, Rangoon circa 1871-circa 1915. Jackson had premises at 15 Phayre Street in 1891 and 278 Dalhousie Street in 1910.

Pagoda at Paghan, Burma [i.e. Pagan, Myanmar], 1890 - 1899
147 x 102 mm. Showing a deserted temple at Pagan, on the eastern bank of the Irrawaddysome 80 miles southwest of Mandalay. Pagan was founded by King Pyinbya in 847 AD and remained the royal capital until the extinction of the dynasty in 1298 AD. The annotation on the reverse states 'supposed to be the oldest royal city.
