'Kenya days'
A copy of a typescript account of Cashmore's time in service in Kenya with handwritten corrections, c. 150 pages. The memoir covers the years 1953 to 1963, and was written up during 1992-1995. There are two accompanying letters from Cashmore to Peter Fox, Cambridge University Librarian, regarding the presentation of the work to the R.C.S.
Letter from Harold Lambert on Kenya, 1973
An undated copy of a letter from Harold Lambert to T.H.R. Cashmore, 6 April 1964, containing personal recollections of colleagues and other aspects of administrative life in Kenya. The letter was sent in connection with Cashmore's dissertation, 'Studies in district administration in the East African Protectorate, 1895-1918' (Ph.D., Cambridge, 1965), and 'Your obedient servants' (see RCMS 173).

A Ph.D. thesis written at Jesus College, Cambridge, with illustrations and maps, 445 pages. It follows the broad outlines of 'Your obedient servants' (RCMS 173), and has footnotes and source references not included in that work.

'Your obedient servants, 1895-1918'
An unpublished account of the role of the early district officer in Kenya and the problems inherent in implementing policy, with illustrations and maps, 501 pages. There is a five-page survey of sources, but only limited source references. The book was written with the financial support of the Department of Technical Cooperation, which enabled Cashmore to spend two years on research and writing, one of which was spent in Kenya. The volume is dated at the front October 1964.
