183 x 234 mm. (mounted on card). Showing a group of four posed on the ladder leading to their raised dwelling. These figures are probably Sakai, one of the Indigenous peoples of Malaysia. Long (1927, p. 259) describes this group.

Scope and Contents 237 x 183 mm. A carefully posed study of five Kling women grouped in front of the whitewashed wall of a European house. The Klings (the term has since the turn of the century been considered highly deregoratory) were the Tamil immigrants who formed the lowest classes of labour. The women in this picture wear saris and the characteristic toe and nose rings.
