Correspondence between Hugh Bryson and James de Vere Allen on the research and publication of the latter’s book, ‘The Malayan Union’, and on Allen’s research for an article on Terengganu during the early twentieth century. Several letters refer to Sir Edward Gent and the Malayan Emergency (21 sheets).

There are 118 different pictures; 1-37, 71-117 are prints, with negatives of 34-37; 38-70, including 49a, are from the personal collection of Hugh Patterson Bryson presented to the RCS towards the end of his life, and relate to his post-war work as British Adviser, Negri Sembilan, from which he retired in 1951.

McKerron was Colonial Secretary, Singapore from 1946-1950 and administered the government on two occasions. Hugh BRYSON stands at the right of the photograph.
