Comprises medal, original case and accompanying note, which reads, 'The Hon Margaret (Maggie) Best's OBE insignia, for much public service from her home in London and particularly her initiative in starting the Public School Annual Empire Expeditions for the young.' Best was awarded an OBE in the 1929 New Year Honours and this CBE medal in the 1938 Birthday Honours.

Album containing photographs and other material. During November 1919 - March 1920 Margaret Best visited India where a brother, the Hon. James William Best (1882-1960) was a forestry officer. She travelled on the Peninsular and Oriental ship 'Kaisar-i-Hind' which sailed from London for Bombay on 10 October 1919, probably joining it at Marseilles. This committee was set up by the Church of England Council of Empire Settlement in Nov. 1925 and organised a visit to Australia. Its Honorary Secretary was Margaret Mary Best. Although never formally part of the RES, its Chairman from 1927 was Dr. M. J. Rendall, Chairman of the RES Imperial Studies Committee. From 1936 the committee's Tour office was housed in the RES.
