Scope and Contents Writing from the Academic Assistance Council at Clements Inn Passage, Adams says he has met Mathilde Hertz, has received a long letter from the Master of Trinity [Joseph John Thomson] and has discussed her case with Professors [Archibald Vivian] Hill and [Charles Stanley] Gibson. They agree she should receive a grant for 1936 January-July to allow Thomson time to raise further funds from those indebted to Heinrich Hertz. Rutherford is delighted it is possible for [Mathilde Hertz] to receive an award. He feels that the AAC's attitude is of as much symbolic as practical importance due to the prestige 'Germany of the old days' gained from [Heinrich Hertz's] discoveries. Will write to Thomson about new soureces of funds for her.
