Three copies of an English translation of a letter from the Udaijin [Sanjo Sanetomi] to the British Prime Minister [William Ewart Gladstone] (Yedo?, c. May 1871). One copy is in an identical hand to that of Parkes 33/16.
Notification re Formosa, 1874
A proof of an English translation of a notification issued by Sanjo Saneyoshi [Sanjo Sanetomi], 17 November 1874, containing translations of articles and a certificate exchanged between representatives of the Japanese and Chinese governments concerning an agreement on Formosa, October 1874, 1 folio. There are two copies, one of which has been cut in two and mounted on a backing sheet labelled 'Certificate Interchanged'.
