Scope and Contents

Press copies of letters from Ryle Holme, Nagasaki, to Jardine Matheson, Shanghai and Yokohama, 1877-1878, regarding the Takasima Colliery, with a few letters to other correspondents, such as Browne & Co., Kobe, and Hatch & Co., Tientsin. There are also press copies of letters to Holme from various correspondents at Takasima and Yokohama, 1877, and accounts, invoices and memoranda, mostly relating to the Takasima colliery, 1876-1878.
