Biography

Thomas Thomson Harley joined Jardine, Matheson & Co. Ltd in 1949 and was employed in Hong Kong and Japan. He was the Manager of the Insurance Department of Jardine, Matheson & Co. Ltd, and became the General Manager of its subsidiary the Lombard Insurance Co. Ltd in 1972. He joined the company's Private Office in 1975. During the 1980s he was employed in its Amsterdam office.

Scope and Contents Copies of semi-official letters from Jardine Matheson, Hong Kong, to Jardine Matheson, Taipei, 1948-1977 and 1981-1982, with enclosed letters and papers. There are also semi-official letters from Taipei to Hong Kong for the years 1951, 1952, 1955, 1968-1977 and 1981-1982, comprised mainly of original letters, but also including some copies. The later correspondence includes some unnumbered letters. The correspondents are A.D. Angus, I.F. Aucott, H.D.M. Barton, B.E. Bolton, J. Boon, D.I....
