Biography

Paul de Choulot was born 3 March 1889 in Nevers, France, the eldest child among the six children of Marie Augustin Paul de Lavenne de Choulot and Joséphine Henriette Élisa Noël de Chabaud-Latour. Choulot served in the First World War and after demobilisation returned to the family home near Farges-en-Septaire to practice farm management and forestry. He married Marie-Geneviève Reille on 24 June 1920. Choulot died on 22 June 1968.

Scope and Contents

Paul de Choulot served as a Sergent with 1eCM, 3e Tirailleurs de Marche in 1917-1918.
Contains 26 letters and postcards from de Choulot to Ruth Darwin sent between 26 September 1917 and 19 March 1921. Includes a photograph of de Choulot in military uniform printed on a postcard and a faded picture postcard of de Choulot's family home, Chateau de Bois-Bouzon, par Farges-en-Septaire sent by De Choulot's youngest brother, Jacques de Choulot.
