Biography

The Barnagore Jute Factory Co. Ltd was founded originally as the Borneo Co. Ltd in 1859 to manufacture jute at a mill at Barnagore, near Calcutta. The new company was incorporated on 22 July 1872, and is still in operation today.

Scope and Contents

The volume contains a 'Report on the titles of the lands belonging to and leased by the Barnagore Jute Factory Co Ld', containing sections on the North, South and Branch Mills. The report is undated, but includes copies of letters from the company's Calcutta office to its London office of 1912-1919. At the end of the volume is a table of redemption certificates for lands at the North and South Mills, followed by an index to the report's contents.
