Scope and Contents From the Fonds:

The earliest records relate to Woodward's will, estates and the administration of his fossil collection. From the 1880s, administrative records of the burgeoning Department of Geology, its teaching, examining, and students, survive alongside papers for the lengthy project to build the Sedgwick Museum. The archives also include the papers of Professor T. McKenny Hughes, Woodwardian Professor 1873-1917.

Conditions Governing Access: Several files closed to scholars from 80 years from date of creation under data protection legislation.

Records in this category relate to curriculum development, delivery and appraisal, examinations and the award of degrees, research contracts and Faculty publication. They include the notes of a student of the Mechanical Sciences Tripos in the late 1940s and background papers assembled in connection with a history of the Department.

Conditions Governing Access: From the Fonds: There are generally no restrictions on access to the archives, apart from 30 years closure of records relating to confidential research projects, imposed as a condition of transfer and 80 years closure of records containing personal data, imposed under data protection legislation.
