Adamson: the papers of George Worsley Adamson
The papers consist of original artwork for editions of 'Meet My Folks', 'How the Whale Became' and 'The Iron Man'. There is also a small quantity of correspondence received by Adamson from Ted Hughes regarding illustrations for Hughes's books.

Henry Gyles: Some Rules for Painting upon Messo Tinto Justly Imparted
Probably written in Gyles' own hand, 12 folios: (fo. 1): 'Treatise in Autograph of Henry Gyles Glasspainter on Coloring Mezzotints & transferring them to glass' (19th century hand); (fo. 11v) red crayon drawings of human figures and a man-of-war, roughly contemporary with the text.

Sir Richard Colt Hoare: Notes on paintings in Italy
Manuscript in the Sandars Collection. Two notebooks on paintings in Italy, bound together. I. Notes on paintings and other works of art in Rome (fos 1-62). The main description is on the rectos, the versos are generally occupied by additional notes. An entry on fo. 29 is dated 17 January 1787. II. Similar notes for Florence, Bologna and other towns in Northern Italy (fos 63-162). Fos 85-112, 158-162 and many of the versos are blank.
Water colours and sketches of southern Africa
Water colours and pen and ink sketches documenting Anderson's travels in southern Africa, accompanied by his original captions and explanatory notes. The original titles and captions have been enclosed in single quotation marks, and have been transcribed in the catalogue as found, with the exception of an egregiously offensive term used in some titles, which has not been transcribed. Where possible, modern place names have been supplied.
