Reclining couch British Residency, Lamu, 1905

153 x 204 mm. A closer view of the couch, shaped like a small four poster bed, in the Lamu Residency. The head of the couch is a beautifully and intricately carved piece of work featuring human figures and decorative arabesques of vegetation. Another copy of this print can be found at Y30468A/37.

118 x 166 mm. A full length portrait showing the Liwali of Lamu standing on the balcony of his waterfront house. A stout man, the Liwali is wearing full regalia and carries a sword and dagger. Abdalllah bin Hemed Al-bu-Seyyid was Liwali from 1885-1904.
