Scope and Contents
A view looking along a wide street in Bandung with single-storey shops and houses on either side of the road. Bandung lies 75 miles south-east of Jakarta and was formerly the headquarters of the (then) Dutch East Indies Army.

The collection was originally housed in seven boxes, four of which were specially made with individual slots for slides. These were numbered 3, 6, 10 and 11 and the remaining boxes were unnumbered. Presumably these formed part of a larger collection, but nothing is known of the original owner or the fate of any other boxes. For conservation reasons, the collection has since been re-boxed. 248 x 190 mm. View looking down onto a river, with cultivated plots in the foreground, dense jungle on the farther bank and a mountain in the distance. Bandoeng or Bandung is the chief city of the Preanger Region of Western Java and is situated 75 miles east of Jakarta. It was the former headquarters of the Dutch East Indies Army.
