Group portrait of former pupils of Achimota College. Achimota was opened in 1924 as a residential college catering for pupils from kindergarten level upwards, and in 1929 the university department was sanctioned, with students sitting external degrees from London University.

Portrait showing the Revd. Robert Wright Stopford (1901-1976) seated at his desk in his office. The typewritten caption continues 'formerly Principal of Trinity College, Kandy, Ceylon and before that Senior History Master at Cundle [sic]'. Stopford taught at Oundle from 1925-34, was Principal of Trinity College from 1935-41, and Principal of Achimota 1941-45. He was later Bishop of Fulham (1955-56), Peterborough (1956-61) and London (1961-73).

'Thirty years ago': reminiscences by Philip Tengely
Unpublished typescript and manuscript reminiscences of Tengely's service in West Africa, 134 pages, with 12 inserted photographs. The account describes Accra, Elmina, Abbeokuta, Ibadan, Sierra Leone and Benin, with particular reference to African traditions, ceremonies and beliefs. There is an accompanying letter from the author to the Royal African Society, 22 June 1939, and the Society's acknowledgement, 26 June 1939.
