[It seems likely that both Marnham GG/26 and Marnham GG/27 were taken in the same area, and as Marnham must have returned to St Lucia soon after, as 5-6 - see CC - were taken at Ciceron, it seems probably that they were of Barbuda, where the latter photographs of the previous film were taken, rather than Bequia on St Vincent].

148 x 187 mm. A photograph of a half-length portrait (artist unknown) showing Daniel Parkes standing beside a globe holding a pair of dividers. After service in the army under Marlborough, Parkes (1669-1710) was appointed Governor of the Leewards in 1706. He was murdered by insurrectionists in Antigua on December 7 1710.

Scope and Contents 290 x 217 mm. A view from Ordnance Bay looking south along English Harbour to the sea. In the middle distance, jutting out into the bay from the right, is the dockyard of English Harbour. Situated on the south coast of Antigua 12 miles from St. John's the dockyard works were substantially completed by 1746 although the surviving buildings are of later date. The dockyard was abandoned in 1889 although the harbour itself was used by men of war until the mid 1890’s and for several years...
