The contents include family photographs, scenes of the outward voyage (including France, Italy and Egypt), views in India including the 1877 Delhi Durbar, portraits and groups, including theatrical ones, maps and newspaper clippings (non photographic items are unnumbered). Also included is an envelope containing some of, what appears to be the original captions cut from the album. The collection is well captioned.

This diary records Bell’s life in retirement, much of it spent in Cannes, where he purchased land for the construction of a villa. It describes his social life, interests, personal affairs and travels. Subjects of particular interest include his reception of the GCMG from George V, the composition of ‘Foreign Colonial Administration in the Far East’ and letters to the press upon subjects such as the control of cinema in the colonies (circa 200 sheets).

The collection, though small, is interesting as no other papers appear to have been left by Hore-Belisha. It comprises letters, diaries, some photographs and documents (mainly copies) covering most of Hore-Belisha's career but concentrating on his most important position as War Minister from 1937-1939 and particularly the events surrounding his dismissal by Neville Chamberlain.
