Scope and Contents
150 x 113 mm. A view looking down in to the smoking crater of La Soufrière, a volcano situated in the north-central area of St. Vincent. This photograph was presumably taken some time around May 1902 when the eruption of the volcano caused great devastation and loss of life.

The image shows a view looking down into the water-filled crater of La Soufrière and showing the interbedded tuffs and lavas on the far side.
