A collection of lantern slides of Australia (plus one duplicate). 5-10 are marked 'Commonwealth of Australia' and have serial numbers. 12-22 are marked 'Department of Agriculture and Stock, Brisbane'. The slides' captions have been used as titles and have been recorded as found.

In the time lapse between the two pictures, the road has been surfaced, there are telegraph poles, and the street is lit by gas. A horse no longer browses in front of the main entrance to the building. The extensions to the building have not yet, however, been started.

Many photos do not appear in the exact numerical order given in the listing. The rest of the images are uncaptioned, but their general locations have been identified by reference to the diary RCMS 353/1.
