Two prints joined to measure 557 x 189 mm and with the title handwritten at the top of the print. The panorama shows the small settlement at the end of the North Shore, with houses and bungalows gathered round the far side of the small beach in the foreground. At the left of the print is a jetty leading out into Waitemata Harbour, with Auckland visible in the distance across the water.

A three-page memorandum by S.J. Robinson on the Queen's visit, enclosed with a letter to A.J. Whiteway of 30 December 1953. There is also a letter to Robinson from Martin Charteris, 28 December 1953, enclosing a photograph, included in this collection, of the Queen's visit to his home. The letters and memorandum are undated typescript copies.

Gisborne, situated at the north shore of the Bay, was the spot where Captain Cook first set foot on New Zealand soil in October 1769. He gave the Bay its name after his welcome there, having to kill four Maoris after a hostile reception.
