Scope and Contents A 220 x 140 mm watercolour of Sulivan House in June 1849, so named as the house was built for Captain Sulivan, later Admiral Sir Bartholomew James Sulivan KCB (1810-1890). Sulivan first visited the Falkland Islands for surveying purposes in command of the Arrow 1838-39, having earlier served as surveyor on HMS Beagle with Robert Fitz Roy. 159 x 115mm. A view looking along the waterfront from behind the row of houses that line the harbour. The harbour can be seen in the background and mountains in the distance. In the middle ground stands Christ Church Cathedral whose tower was completed in 1903.
