A view from a hillside looking down on Havelock which lies near the Transvaal border, with mining buildings in the foreground and a small Swazi Kraal of thatched huts beyond. 'Havelock' is also printed on the photograph itself. The following information is supplied by Huw M. Jones: The view is probably of Nottingham Peak, and the likely date is 1889. Havelock was the name given to a mineral concession (41D) obtained from Ngwenyama Mbandzeni on December 12, 1886,...
