200 x 150 mm. The ceremony was performed by H.R.H. the Duke of Connaught in the course of a one day visit to Sierra Leone. This is a duplicate of Y30446C/10, and the catalogue entry for this and Y30446L/11-12 give full details of the ceremony and the people shown.

Military Hospital, Freetown, 1908
Showing the Military Hospital (built in 1825 and still standing today, though no longer a hospital). The card was presumably sent by one of the American missionaries of the United Brethren in Christ mission stationed at Rotifunk. It is signed 'Alice' and is addressed to Miss Julia E. Landis in Ohio, U.S.A.

210 x 155 mm. Edward Bruce Hindle was born in 1851 and called to the Bar in 1879. He became a District Commissioner in the Gold Coast in 1888, Attorney-General in 1889, and was appointed Chief Justice of Sierra Leone in 1895. He had the reputation of being the best lawyer on the West African Coast. He died in March 1897.
