Scope and Contents 104 x 81 mm. A view from the riverbank showing the long wooden canoe being paddled by a large group of warriors. Lewanika (1842-1916) stands in the centre of the boat wearing a European jacket and hat. Litunga of Bulozi (King of Barotseland) from 1878-1884 and 1885 until his death in 1916, Lewanika (also known as Lubosi) had as one of the prime objectives throughout his reign the strengthening of Luzi power through an alliance with the British authorities. 139 x 82 mm. Showing five native policemen standing with shouldered arms in front of a wicker stockade. Beside them stands a European sergeant (possibly Quartermaster Sergeant Fosdyce). Kazungula is a small village in the extreme north-east of the North West District (Chobe).
