According to a note kept with the cinefilm (which appears to have been written subsequently, in 1986 by the cataloguer), the first 4min 38sec of the film is probably set in Nairobi, and the mountain seen in subsequent parts of the film is Mt. Before railhead reached Nairobi in May 1899 there was no permanent population in the area, but with the decision to make Nairobi the headquarters for railway engineer work the town quickly grew.
