Scope and Contents

151 x 116 mm. A view looking over the Governemnt plantations at Kampala. Cocoa was successfully introduced from Kew in 1901, the first commercial planting taking place in 1908, and the first export in 1917. With the collapse of the market in 1924 however the industry was ruined and was not resuscitated untile the late 1950s.
