164 x 120 mm. Duplicate of print 286. An accompanying note reads ‘Wagogo Warriors - such as would execute a witch at a witchcraft trial. These have beautifully made assegais (spears), shields made from either rhinocerous [sic], elephant or bull-hide, feathers of ostrich or eagle, jingling bells at ankles and knees.' Photo by T.B.R. 160 x 115 mm. Group portrait of Wagogo youths and young girls armed with spades. A note accompanying the print reads: 'A group of young Wagogo men and women who had come to the mission to work. This particular group helped to build the mission's sanatorium on the top of Chibolyani Mountain, at an altitude of 6300 feet. It was at this sanatorium that Wilfred and Maureen Westgate were born'.

Scope and Contents From the Fonds: The collection comprises black and white photographs, mostly 125 x 75 mm or 75 x 125 mm in size, film negatives and glass negatives. Some of the prints from glass plates are smaller, approximately 85 x 65 mm. The prints are good compositions, though some are rather dark, and were listed by Erica Ryan of the National Library of Australia, using, among other sources, the captioned envelopes in which the original negatives had been stored.
