Half-length portrait of a woman field worker. The typewritten caption on the reverse reads 'These people travel from places as far off as six hundred miles in Portuguese East Africa to work on the Tanganyika sisal estate. Despite the fact that the poll tax in Tanganyika is higher than in any other part of East Africa they still migrate there, of their own accord, a fact which speaks well of labour conditions and wages on the sisal estates of Tanganyika'.
