210 x 155 mm. Edward Bruce Hindle was born in 1851 and called to the Bar in 1879. He became a District Commissioner in the Gold Coast in 1888, Attorney-General in 1889, and was appointed Chief Justice of Sierra Leone in 1895. He had the reputation of being the best lawyer on the West African Coast. He died in March 1897.

Rev. Edward Jones, M.A. Principal 1840-1858, 1985
Jones was born in the United States, but came to Sierra Leone as a schoolmaster in 1831, and was naturalised in 1845. He edited the Sierra Leone Weekly Times. As Principal of Fourah Bay he instituted the erection of school buildings, but his regime closed in controversy and the college was closed. He died in England a few years later.
Rev. Frank Nevill, M.A. Principal 1884-1889, 1985
Frank Nevill (1855-1889) was ordained in 1879 and was Curate of Emmanuel Church, Maida Hill from then until, in 1884 he was appointed Principal of Fourah Bay College. He died in Sierra Leone on 2 November 1889, of malarial fever. He built up the college from the very low ebb it had reached owing to the length of time between the departure of Sunter and his arrival.

Rev. Henry Jones Alcock, M.A. Principal 1866-1870, 1985
Alcock obtained his degree at Dublin. He gave priority to the training of missionaries and was a meticulous teacher. He resigned in 1870.
