Correspondence, reports and notes relating to Lanning's employment with Gold & Base Metal Mines of Nigeria Limited. They discuss his work as a prospector and surveyor working in Makele, Makari and on and around the Pampana River. Subjects include pay, accommodation, colleagues, road and camp organisation, drilling, dredging, soil samples, gold production, the supervision of labour, and mining prospects (50 sheets).

Sierra Leone: Wallace album

Scope and Contents A collection of photographs relating to a visit to Sierra Leone. All photographs measure 83 x 110 mm, 48 are contained in an album, the remainder are loose. They were presumably taken by Alexander Moultrie Wallace, whose card is stuck inside the front cover with 'Trixie from Alec with much love and wishing her many happy returns of the day 2/May/13' written on it. Above the card is written 'B.M.P.C. from A.M.W. 2/May/13'. The caption to the first photograph indicates Wallace's purpose...

There are typed captions which have been used as the basis of catalogue entries. As well as photographs of the visit to Sierra Leone of the Duke of Connaught on 15 December 1910, there are numerous photographs of events of 1929, the year in which Sir Crampton Smyly retired.
