Scope and Contents A printed book compiled from local journals and other sources, with prints of photographs by John Thomson inserted.Prince Alfred, Duke of Edinburgh (1834-1900), second son of Queen Victoria, served in the Royal Navy, and in 1866 was promoted Captain. From 1867-68 he commanded HMS 'Galatea' on an extensive cruise which was cut short when he was wounded in Sydney. After returning to the U.K., 'Galatea' sailed for the Far East, and in the course of this cruise visited Hong Kong from 31...
