Walker states that the photographs, ‘were taken mostly by one of the brothers Logan of Penang, members of the legal profession and after one of whom Logan Road, Penang was named. The name is (or was) associated with the legal firm of Logan, Ross and Samuels, Penang.’ The plates have hand-written captions, which have been recorded as found. Founded in 1565 as San Miguel, it was the site of the first permanent Spanish settlement in the Philippines.
