From Hill Street, Wellington, New Zealand, 1876
361 x 264 mm. A view taken from the same position as Y3089B/24, but looking towards Lambton Quay and Te Aro Flats. In the foreground is a residential area with mainly wooden houses, while beyond in the harbour, ships can be seen moored at Queen’s Wharf, with Te Aro Flats in the distance.
Government Departmental Offices, Wellington, New Zealand, 1876
364 x 257 mm. A view of the Government Building on Lambton Quay with three figures standing in the roadway in front. This is the handsome building which superseded the offices shown in Y3089B/27. Finished around 1876 (to the design of W.H. Clayton), it is a wooden structure looking deceptively like stone. The chimneys seen here were later removed in the interests of architectural harmony.

Port Nicholson, Wellington, New Zealand, from Hill Street, 1876
360 x 266 mm. A view looking down on to the harbour with city buildings in the foreground and Mt. Victoria visible beyond the harbour. Government House is in the centre of the photograph with a cluster of ships moored at the right at Queen’s Wharf. The Council Chambers are at the left of the photograph (see Y3089B/25).
The Council Chambers, Wellington, New Zealand, 1876
363 x 262 mm. A view showing the wooden Council Chambers situated at the end of Hill Street with the harbour and shipping in the background.
The Old Government Offices, Wellington, New Zealand, 1876
