291 x 190 mm. A view taken from woodland near the south shore of the bay looking across Northcote harbour. The spit of land opposite is Devonport, beyond which rises the extinct volcanic island of Rangitoto. A clipper with graceful lines can be seen at the left of the picture.

A typescript 'to his Excellency the Governor General of New Zealand' (Lord Bledisloe), containing personal recollections written at Bledisloe's suggestion. The reminiscences begin with Morrow's arrival in New Zealand with his father in 1861, and include comments on government, land policy and the Maori Wars. The typescript is accompanied by 'Royal Commonwealth Society library notes', no. 51, March 1961, comprising a verbatim copy of the typescript with an introductory note.

This is the second Government House, designed by William Mason in 1856 to replace the first residence which burnt down in 1848.

281 x 223 mm. A view looking down on to the wooded garden of the Domain with the fine structure of Government House set among trees. A restrained and attractive building, more in the style of the eighteenth than the nineteenth century, it was designed by William Mason and completed in 1856. It took over from the first Government House, a wooden building which burnt down in 1848.

The panorama shows the small settlement at the end of the North Shore, with houses and bungalows gathered round the far side of the small beach in the foreground. At the left of the print is a jetty leading out into Waitemata Harbour, with Auckland visible in the distance across the water.

A view looking across to Parnell Hill, an Auckland suburb situated to the west of Hobson Bay. Land allotments in the area were first sold in 1841, but in this picture it still remains a fairly peaceful appearance, with villas and bungalows on the hill and a small industrial and commercial area at the foot. The railway cuts across the picture below the residential area with an iron bridge across the road.
