162 x 115 mm. A view showing Mahmoud in the centre of a group of Sudanese soldiers. The bloodstains on his Jibba are from a bayonet wound in his left leg. Mahmoud was imprisoned at Rosetta and died in 1906.

All the photographs in this album were taken by me, on a safari from Victoria (B. Cameroons) to Port Sudan. This journey lasted from April 7/35 till August 2/36. The photographs are of anthropological interest only, and deal mostly with the Mangbetu tribe in the northern Congo; the Karamojong in Northern Uganda, and various tribes in the southern Sudan.
