H.M.S. ‘Dolphin’, 1885
204 x 148 mm. A view showing the ‘Dolphin’ anchored in the creek north of Quarantine Island. The ‘Dolphin’ stayed at this location just off the Ordnance Depot for most of the campaign. As well as firing into the desert to the west when groups of Sudanese were pinpointed, the ‘Dolphin’ also possessed an electric searchlight for spotting the Sudanese at night.
HMS ‘Jumna’, 1885
205 x 155 mm. A view looking along No 3 Pier at the south-east corner of Quarantine Island towards the troopship ‘Jumna’ which transported the Scots’ Guards back to England on May 17th, the same day General Graham departed from Suakin.
