155 x 89 mm. A blurred and indistinct view from the Blue Nile looking towards the bank. The mission church lay to the west of Gordon's palace. The photograph is stuck on to an album page entitled 'Khartum, September 4th'.

After the occupation of Omdurman, during which there were a few minor skirmishes, and the freeing of the Khalifa's prisoners, Kitchener sailed down to Khartoum the following day to perform the ceremony seen in Y3042C/137-139.
