Chibi (or Chiri) was the title of the paramount chiefs of the Mari (or Mhari), a branch of the Karanga cluster of Shona and known as the Banyai in the nineteenth century (see 'Historical Dictionary of Rhodesia/Zimbabwe', R. Kent Rasmussen, 1979). The Chibi in 1890 was Madhlangore (d. 1907)....
