The women are wearing traditional costume, two in cloaks decorated with black cords ('korowai') and one in a woven cloak decorated along the edges.

As well as the features mentioned there, he had additional spirals on his chin, called paepae, and the curved tiwhana on his forehead turn down towards his eyes and then back towards his ears.
