The Cathedral, whose construction was paid for by the Dowager Queen Adelaide, was constructed in 1839-1842, the architect of the distinctive spire being William Scamp.

Collection of albumen prints by various photographers. The prints are of various sizes and show views of Europe, Malta in 1860 (numbers 12-26), Middle East and India. Numbers 93-145 relate to a visit to India in 1880, although the prints themselves are views taken in the 1860s mainly by Samuel Bourne. The majority of the prints have handwritten captions.
