On the taller, known as a Belawing, the heads of enemies are hung temporarily; on the shorter, pieces of dried human flesh have been fastened by means of skewers, as offerings to the omen birds in this case, hawks. Showing the poles in the foreground, with houses raised on stilts beyond.
