Mann travelled from London, which he left on 20 June 1935, via Egypt to the Sudan, Kenya, Uganda, Belgian Congo, French Equatorial Africa and the Cameroons to South Africa, arriving in Johannesburg on 31 October. 1-516 are enlargements of Mann's photographs and 517-575 are photographic postcards, chiefly of the Sudan.
