Scope and Contents From the Fonds: A collection of loose prints, lantern slides and glass negatives. The prints mostly relate to Westgate’s earlier work, but there are a few from the 1930s, including nos. 426-454 of visits to South Africa and African islands, all processed in February 1936. Many of the lantern slides and glass negatives are uncaptioned and undated.

[Alligator of River Semliki], 1907

Scope and Contents 85 x 82 mm. Showing Bell seated on the riverbank reading a newspaper with a crocodile behind him: 'After lunch I shot a croc through the head, and Gray and I took a 'faked photo' of it. We propped open its tremendous jaws and posed him so as to let it appear that he was creeping stealthily up towards me, who am seated on the grass, placidly reading a newspaper. It made me quite a realistic picture.' (Bell 1907, March 1).
