Jackson and Gedge camped close to a Suk village from December 24th 1889 to January 3rd 1890; on December 29th Gedge writes ‘took some photos of natives in the morning’, which he developed the following day.

The two albums were the property of Charles Edwin Collard, Captain, Royal Marine Light Infantry. The albums have been rebound, but the labels on the covers ‘Uganda 1898-1900’ have been retained. Most of the photographs are 115 x 90 mm. Collard was presumably the photographer except for the few prints in which he appears, and all the photographs are captioned.
