152 x 107mm. Showing crowds of islanders gathered round a pit in which a large dog stands. Macdonald's letter adds ‘The officer in a helmet in the centre is Inspector Spencer. The Omodos Monastery is the large building in the background. The dog in the foreground is the only mastiff here’. Inspector Cyril Spencer can be traced in the Cyprus Almanacs up until 1905 when members of the Police Force ceased to be individually listed.

76 x 97m. Showing the entrance to the Konak, the old 16th-century palace in the north-western part of Nicosia. The rest of the building was destroyed during the British occupation and the building finally pulled down in 1904 to make way for a new palace, courthouse and government offices.

Middle distance, the monastery of Scoriotissa and beyond that on the left, the church of the village of Katydata: olive trees and caroabs: one of the richest valleys in Cyprus: splendid water supply coming straight down from the mountains.
