Richly caparisoned elephants march three abreast surrounded by Kandyan elders, while a dense crowd lines the street watching the progress of the ceremony. The Perahera is the annual procession of the tooth relic around the streets of Kandy. The main procession is at night time, but other parts of ceremony which lasts about a week, take place during the day. This photograph is also incorrectly captioned...
