It was through this narrow channel that Onderdonk, financially straitened by freight charges on the Cariboo Road, determined to send his supplies by steamboat. This was in the Spring of 1882. It was the first visit by a reigning British monarch to the country. These photographs feature ceremonies held at the docks, Parliament and Beacon Hill.
