Scope and Contents 43 x 57 mm. (Oval image). A carte de visite head and shoulders studio portrait of the moustached and heavily whiskered Maximilian James Jackson (circa 1841-?). Between 1858 and 1868 Jackson acted as a clerk in the Cape Civil Service in Victoria East, Richmond and Murraysburg; in the latter year he was appointed Special Magistrate on the Northern Border and in 1869 was Inspector commanding the Northern Border Police and Commandant General of Forces in the Koranna War.
