Scope and Contents An album measuring 305 x 250 mm. containing albumen reproductions of 24 paintings by the Indian painter Raja Ravi Varma (1848-1906). Numbers 1-22 relate to Indian mythology and are accompanied by printed captions explaining their subjects. Numbers 23-24 (also captioned) are portraits of women. Numbers 3, 17, and 21-23 are signed in the image by V.G. Chiplonkar, who may have been responsible for the others. Chiplonkar was associated with Baroda and may have been its court photographer.
